Occurs in Natal (common). Reported to range south to East Cape (Ref. 2712). Individuals are born in shallow waters (incuding estuaries) during the summer (Ref. 12951). Caught by trawlers. Angling record: 13 kg (Ref. 12484). Spearfishing of this species is illegal in Natal (Ref. 12484).
